"While I can’t control my “rogue” cells, I can control my story, and what I do with that story. My cells malfunctioned. Cancer grew. I can’t change that. But what I can do is use my personal cancer experience as a catalyst for change."

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 at the age of 32.

That was the year that everything changed for me. Life was pretty sweet pre-October 2011. My youngest daughter Audrey was just about to turn three and enter preschool, and I was starting to think about what I wanted to do with myself professionally after a wonderful stint as a stay-at-home mom. And then I felt a lump in my breast.

I can still remember that cool October morning. When I felt the lumpy spot in the shower, I immediately felt my stomach tighten. My gut instinct was that this was not good, but I tried to be logical about the situation. My head repeated, "it's probably nothing," while my heart started to feel heavy with worry. I went into my doctor who said that I could go get a breast ultrasound if it would make me feel better. Being a pretty paranoid person, I decided to take her up on the offer, and the ultrasound quickly led to a mammogram, which led to an immediate biopsy. Cancer.

Given that you have landed on this page, you might have browsed around to learn more about Consano. This organization, which I founded after I had made it through my active treatments and surgeries, is a labor of love. It is my attempt to pay forward the kindness that you all showed me during my cancer experience, and hopefully help advance science in a particularly difficult funding time for medical researchers. Selfishly, creating Consano has also been a great source of healing for me personally, giving me the chance to channel the fear and anxiety of cancer into something that will help others.

Thank you for your continued support and love. I would not have made it through cancer without you all, and you continue to lift me up on this amazing journey that is life. For that I am beyond grateful!

What your Donation Supports

I've had the fortunate opportunity to meet some of the most amazing medical researchers during this Consano adventure. As a result, all funds raised via my Honor Fund will go to support the Consano platform so we can continue to direct 100% of every donation to the research that matters to you!
